Pediatric occupational therapy (OT) helps kids learn to do the activities they need or want to do in their daily lives. For children, this could include addressing developmental, play, social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
Our experienced pediatric occupational therapist will collaborate with you and your child to build the child’s ability to complete everyday tasks at home, school, and other contexts.
The Therapy Farm approach utilizes the motivating and therapeutic benefits of nature and animals, while considering each child’s preferences and comfort level.
In a therapy session, children may build motor skills through animal care or gardening tasks. They may learn social cues and perspective taking by interacting with the animals or participating in peer-based nature groups.
The real-world context of The Therapy Farm allows children to complete just-right challenges, take reasonable risks, and learn safety and self-regulation skills under the therapist’s guidance.
At The Therapy Farm, we know that children + teens have unique developmental needs and learning styles, so we create a fun and inviting atmosphere in our pediatric occupational therapy program.
Children and teens who have not been in occupational therapy before, or who have had negative experiences in therapy or traditional medical settings, will benefit greatly from our welcoming, nature based, animal-assisted therapy program.
With plenty of options for all levels and abilities, your children and teens will get the support and care they need to address their individual goals through pediatric occupational therapy. We also recognize the significance of your role as a parent or caregiver, and offer wrap around support for all members of the family through counseling, attachment building exercises, and parent support.
